LaMATS and Addis Support Brusly Storm Readiness with Pump Purchase

Working within State Bid Law to procure a portable 6” dri-prime diesel pump and trailer at a price already established by another municipal contract, LaMATS Purchasing Services (LPS) saved the Town of Brusly both time and expense by avoiding the need to place a separate bid.

LPS Purchasing Consultant Paul Holmes was able to confirm that the original purchase by Addis was within the statutory period to permit another local government’s purchase at the same price, and that Addis was amenable to cooperative use of their contract. Holmes then contacted vendor Better Pumps & Solutions, LLC of St. Gabriel, Louisiana, through its representative Rob Lamm, who confirmed that it could and would sell the same pump purchased by Town of Addis to Brusly at the same price.

Brusly Mayor Scot M. Rhodes was delighted with the process. Speaking of the new storm water pump, Mayor Rhodes said that thankfully they had not had to use it yet but were glad to have it: "[LPS] sure made the process easy.”

LaMATS encourages all LMA members and other local governments to contact us when searching for needed municipal items through piggybacks. We can arrange cooperative purchases between municipalities where available. Contact Cliff Palmer (cpalmer@lamats.net) or Paul Holmes (paul@lamats.net)
