LaMATS Presents at LAMSA Conference in Lafayette
Paul Holmes, LaMATS Procurement Consultant, presented at last week's annual gathering of the Louisiana Association of Municipal Secretaries and Assistants (LAMSA) in Lafayette. Paul spoke on numerous aspects of municipal purchasing, a complex and essential duty for many members in attendance. Among the topics touched on were recent changes to spending limits requiring formal bids; electronic bidding procedures; how best to get quotes—and how LaMATS can assist through pre-negotiated contracts, lease purchase financing and much more.

LaMATS would also like to recognize the service and friendship of Marlaine Peachey for her many years of service to LAMSA, including as past president. Peachey, a long-serving retired Executive Assistant to the Mandeville mayor has served as LAMSA Conference Coordinator for the past several years will now retire for the second time at the end of the year.
LAMSA’s current President, Yvonne Lewis, offered this appreciation of her dear friend: “LAMSA will greatly miss Marlaine in the role as our Conference Coordinator. The expertise that she brought to the position is unmatched and our new coordinator has big shoes to fill. As a Past President of LAMSA, Marlaine will still be involved with the organization and will continue to play a vital role. We’re going to miss her but we wish her well in all future endeavors.”
